Halloween cupcake baking

Halloween Baking

Who says halloween costumes are just for kids? Dressing up cakes is just as fun. I’ve been decorating my baking creations in a Halloween theme just in time for this year’s spooky night! From spider webs to pumpkin cakes, there are so many opportunities for fun and creative icing ideas. Here’s a peeky-boo of what I’ve made.

Pumpkin cupcakes are probably the most easy halloween themed baking. Just make a yummy cupcake, preferably chocolate. Adding orange zest to the chocolate cupcake is a great way to shake it up for you Terry’s Chocolate Orange fans out there. Self proclaimed addict to those segments, at your service. Add come orange food colouring gel to the buttercream icing and pipe onto your cupcakes. Break up some twirl chocolate and stick into the icing. I made a green leaf with some leftover green roll out icing which I wrapped around a pencil shape to create a spiral.

Carving a cake is actually far easier than carving a pumpkin (and way more tastier to eat the scraps!). Here are my two pumpkins I carved this halloween. I used some cake dust to paint the detail on the pumpkin cake.

If you would like to see more of my baking extravaganzas you can follow my instagram at Maid by Marian. (Please tell me there are Robin Hood fans out there that will understand the name). I love to decorate cakes and post some really delicious recipes there. From red velvet to raspberry white chocolate cupcakes, I bake a lot of variety of flavours! I really to pick a theme and design from there, just like this halloween baking.

Happy Halloween!
