Hey! Here’s a new “feature” (if that’s what you want to call it) where I will share with you a list of my favourite things. Today’s topic is songs! And who doesn’t like music?!
So a couple of months ago I shared one of my playlists but today I am going to show you my favourite songs right this minute. Like (nearly) every other person in the world, I enjoy listening to music and of course I have my own specific taste. I like interesting sounds that have a great rhythm. If you make me listen to Rhianna or Lady Gaga I will telepathically stab you. I have no interest in that very “pop” sound that infests radios. Acoustic guitar any day.
1. Alt J ~ Breezeblocks
2. Asgeir ~ King and Cross
3. Hudson Taylor ~ Chasing Rubies
4. Delorentos ~ Secret
5. Mumford & Sons ~ Little Lion Man
6. Vance Joy ~ Riptide
7. Twenty One Pilots ~ House of Gold
8. CHVRCHES ~ The Mother we Share
9. Little Green Cars ~ Harper Lee
10. Phoenix ~ Girlfriend
11. Two Door Cinema Club ~ What you know
Have you heard of any of these? Tell me a few of your favourite songs!
Also some of these songs were introduced to be my Emily, July and Thomas.
ALT-JALT-JALT-JALT-J!!! Ugh i love them so much! i really want to start listening to 21p because one of my best friends love them! hope you're having a good day 🙂 X
YES!!! Haha, happy to see you're also a fan. 😀
You should definitely start listening to 21p – they're so good; I agree with your friend!
Aw, thanks. It is quite a good day. Right back at ya ^_^
I haven't heard of any of these other musicians, but I do love Mumford & Sons! I Will Wait is probably one of my favourite songs. I'm going to listen to the other songs on this list as I blog- they look great! Rita xx
Mumford & Sons are amazing! That was my first favourite song of theirs.
I hope you like them as much as I do. Enjoy! (and thanks for stopping by) ^_^
BREEZEBLOCKS! <3 <3
I KNOW!!! :L …hehe ^_^
Hi Marian!
I've heard of some of these songs! Especially the one by CHVRCHES, Hozier, Vance Joy, Asgeir and Mumford and Sons. I've heard of Alt-J too, but I don't really listen to them. I like indie + alternative + pop songs, and that Hudson Taylor song sounds pretty good. Great post! 🙂

Hey Dian!
I LIKE your taste! I guess great minds think alike :L
Hudson Taylor are becoming one of my favourite bands!
Thank you! ^_^
Yessss! Another music post….. I love when you do these Marian. And from scanning over the songs, I know way more of these than I did on your last post, so yay, I don't have to feel so much like I've been living under a rock in the musical world of not the USA.
Ok. My thoughts:
– Breezeblocks is EH, definitely not my favorite song. I don't really like the singer's voice, and the only thing intriguing about the song for me was the video.
– King and Cross…. LOVE. I've never heard of the song or the artist before, but I'm kind of obsessed with the song you shared at the moment. His falsetto voice is so smooth and creamy(idk what that means????) in the best way.
– Chasing Rubies is kind of amazing. How didn't I know this song or artist?? I'm going to stalk more of his music on YouTube after I'm done listening to all your favorite songs.
– Secret is good too actually. I wasn't super into the first half of the song, but as soon as the second verse started, I began enjoying it more.
– I've heard Little Lion Man before many a'time, and every time someone mentions it, I just laugh because all I can picture is little lion men. Haha, love it. Anyway, the song is great musically, vocally, and lyrically, but I wish they didn't have to include such strong language in this one.
– Huhhhh. I'm not sure what I think of Riptide. I really like the song and the singer's voice, but the video was so weird!
– OMG House of Gold!! I'm so glad you like Twenty One Pilots now, and I'm so happy I could be the one to introduce them to you 🙂 I don't remember if I told you, but my brother went to their concert this past fall and was in the 4th row away from them… NOT FAIR!
– I've also heard of CHVRCHES before, but I don't think I've heard The Mother We Share….. There's one song by them that I listen to frequently but can't remember the name (oops). Overall, they're good but not my favorite band ever.
– Little Green Cars reminds me of Mumford and Sons, and I love Harper Lee! I wish I knew this song before now. It's so good and I'm putting it on my playlists right away haha.
– Girlfriend is alright. It sounds so familiar, but I'm 99% sure I've never heard it before… Hmmm, strange.
– What You Know is great. The video makes me laugh! I think I've heard of the band Two Door Cinema Club before, but I've never actually listened to their music. I should probably start listening to them more!
Ok, so I have a couple to recommend to you also…. I have no clue if you'll like them, but they're some of my favorites.
– Prayer in C by Lilly Wood. I don't agree fully with the message in this song, but I love the singer's voice and musical track in the background.
– Something Big by Shawn Mendes. Ok, I know this is pop and you hate that, but I just really enjoy everything about the song….
– I don't remember if you like Ed Sheeran or not, but if you haven't heard it, listen to Tenerife Sea or Thinking Out Loud by him. They're probably some of my favorite songs of all time.
– Centuries by Fall Out Boy. Just a good song 🙂
– I Bet My Life and Ready Aim Fire by Imagine Dragons. More good songs, haha.
Ok, that took forever, but I'm so glad you shared more of your favorite music with us! I like being exposed to different artists and songs that I don't hear over here on my side of the world. Tell me what you think of my songs if you have a chance to listen to them!

W.O.W That is one LONG comment!
…
Thank you! I love learning about other music and finding more favourite bands.
Haha… King and Cross – YES! I totally get what you are trying to say :L
Yeah I love Hudson Taylor, I saw them live at Indie along with Delorentos, The Coronas, Walking on Cars, Hozier etc.
Thank you so much for introducing me to twenty-one Pilots. Love Love LOVE!
YAY! Little Green Cars!! <3
Two Door Cinema Club are brilliant, I'm surprised you've never heard of them before.
Okay, your songs (yay!)
-HEY! I know that song! Did not know it was called that. But yes – love it ^_^
– hmmm… okay… I don't hate it. But I don't love it either. I'm not sure tbh. I think it's a song that I'll end up singing randomly because it will be stuck in my head. 🙂
– ED SHEERAN!!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!! YES!!!!! HE'S MY FUTURE HUSBAND. JUST – GAH!!!!
– Fall out Boy, now we're talking. Yes. They are brilliant!
– Imagine Dragons are unreal 😀
Thank you for your suggestions and your incredible comment 😀
Marian ^_^
Oh my word you're so lucky seeing Hudson Taylor, The Coronas, Walking on Cars, and Hozier all in one place…. So not fair! I have a very love/hate relationship with Hozier, but if I had the chance to see all of those bands, wow, it would be a dream come true.
I'm surprised how well I like your musical taste considering that it's pretty different compared to what I generally listen to. I love almost all of the bands you're introducing me to! Thanks again for broadening my musical horizons 🙂
Haha, you knew all my songs lol. Of course they are very common, but I just like them 🙂
*sighs of relief that you like Ed Sheeran* If you didn't, I don't know if we could be friends…. Lol just kidding. Can I come to the wedding? 😉
Ok, one more thought. The best thing about nearly all these bands is that they have wonderful names. Most aren't just the lead singer's name, but they're titles that make you think. Like I wonder why Two Door Cinema Club named themselves that? And what about Little Green Cars? CHVRCHES?
Ahhh. I sense I may be doing a little research while procrastinating in my studying for final exams. 🙂

I wish I had known the bands before I saw them though. I would have enjoyed it more and payed attention. :L
Haha… of course you can be at the wedding! You'll have to be. You are one of my bridesmaids
after all ^_^
You are so right! I've never thought much about the names but surely there's a story behind them. "Two Door Cinema Club" — now that's curious…hmmmm….. fascinating 😀
